The Université Grenoble Alpes honored its 2021 graduates during a ceremony on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Louis Weil Amphitheater. This was an opportunity to hand out the diplomas and award the thesis prizes. Watch the ceremony again.
Graduation and thesis awards for the class of 2021
The first face-to-face UGA PhD graduation ceremony of took place on Thursday, June 23, 2022. It was an opportunity to award ceremonial sashes to more than 250 PhD graduates present at the ceremony, of the 615 graduates of the class of 2021. Ten thesis prizes for outstanding thesis work were also awarded. Many graduates work abroad, so some of them attended by videoconference. The ceremony was recorded and broadcast live, an evening attended by more than 2500 people.
Denis Jongmans, Dean of the Doctoral College, opened the ceremony, with a short introduction by Yassine Lakhnech, President of Université Grenoble Alpes, and Olivier Dugrip, Rector of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes academic region and Chancellor of universities. The PhD is the highest university degree. They were keen to point out the investment required for this achievement after long years of study and research and congratulate them. Alphanie Midelet, UGA PhD graduate and winner of the national My Thesis in 180 seconds competition who will represent France in October in Montreal also made an appearance.

Families, friends and supervisors were able to watch the graduates come up on stage by doctoral school and receive a UGA ceremonial sash, symbolizing their graduation.
The schools appeared in the following order: SE, MSTII, I-MEP², LLSH, STEP, SG, CSV, PHILO, ISCE, SHPT, EEATS, PHYS, SJ
Thesis Awards
Among them, ten winners received their thesis awards for outstanding work: 8 academic thesis awards, including one interdisciplinary, and two innovation thesis awards.
